Masterson’s Tavern , situated in the center of Moonee Ponds , brands itself as a fashionable, contemporary hangout, but my latest trip at this establishment became a nightmarish ordeal . While the bar may appear inviting from the outside , what I experienced behind its walls was disturbing and far below any standard .

From the moment I stepped inside , it was immediately obvious that hygiene was not a priority at this venue. The surfaces were tacky , and a pungent odor of decaying beverages and filthy restrooms suffused the entire pub. Emitting a scent of a mixture of human waste, old age and a sickly smell. The counter , which should be the focal point of any pub, was cluttered with dirty glasses and trash that looked like it hadn’t been cleaned in weeks . The restroom was in even a truly awful state— spilling over , with a broken handle and walls covered in what I can only assume was feces.
